Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. Here is a baby that is mostly fish and partly human with the way she swims!

Swimming is a fun activity that kids love, but if you do not know how to swim it can be daunting. Just like this baby girl learning how to swim, it takes time to get used to being comfortable in the water. With that said, it is a great idea to teach your baby how to swim at an early age.  Not only will they enjoy it greatly, but they will also learn how to be comfortable in the water by themselves. Who knows, your baby may just become the next world swimming champion. Now the question arises, when and where should you start to teach them swimming. Don’t worry we will go through this and you can learn how to teach your baby swimming with 3 easy tips.

Start Out By Playing In The Water

The first thing you need to do is get your baby comfortable being in the water. You can do this by slowly bringing them in along with you. Going in with them will help them feel safe and secure. Once you are in the water, try playing games with them there. Through playing games you can help relieve some of the stress they feel for being in the water for their first time. Playing games with them will also keep them distracted from the new experience. Sooner or later they will start to feel comfortable and learn to enjoy their time in the water.

Another great way to teach your baby how to swim at an early age is to enroll them in swimming lessons for babies. These lessons will teach them how to feel more comfortable in the pool without their parents. Though you should still be within arms reach at all time just in case. Moreover, your baby will learn basic pool safety and how to properly swim and float.

Get your baby comfortable by playing with them in the water.

Take It One Step At A Time

Once your baby is comfortable being in the water, you can now help become more accustomed to moving in the water. Babies have very sensitive ears so getting water in them is very uncomfortable on their part. To help them get used to this, you can help them by submerging one ear at a time in the water. Doing this step before ever completely submerging them will keep them more calm and ready for what is next.

The next tip is complete submersion. This means it is time to take it to the next level and teach them to go completely underwater. When you do this, make sure you are around to support them. Getting them completely underwater takes a few steps. First, inform your baby about what you are about to do and count to three before submerging them. Second, right before you submerge them blow on their face. Doing so will cause an automatically hold their breath. Third, as you submerge them tilt them at an angle. This will prevent water from going straight up their nose. By doing things little by little you can teach your baby how to swim at an early age without the stress and anxiety on their part.

Take swimming lessons one step at a time.

Build Trust While Swimming

The last thing you should keep in mind to make sure your baby trusts whoever is instructing them. Just like the baby girl learning how to swim in the video, your baby should always feel comfortable with their instructor. Being able to explore the fun world of swimming should put safety first. Part of that safety is making sure that whoever is in the pool with them in trustworthy and responsible. Even if your child feels comfortable swimming on their own, it is still best to have supervision.

Always watch your baby when they are swimming.

Following these three tips your baby can start swimming easily and comfortably. Some babies take more time than others to learn, but once you get them in the water, things are smooth sailing from there.
