The Original Chanel Jacket Every Woman Needs

There is something timeless and elegant about Channel sequin jackets. Every woman needs one of these. See, some jackets are meant for the office, running errands or going to the library.

But Chanel tweed and boucle jackets? Those are meant for the runway. I like to call them: Conversation-sparkers.

When dressing up, think of the one thing you will wear to draw people to you. The one thing that makes you unforgettable. It could be something as simple as a watch, scarf or even your perfume.

With the help of Adam Katz Sinding, the Photogragher, our model, Camila Coelho, preferred to turn heads at Chanel’s Haute Couture Show with this Chanel sequin jacket.

And who said winter means boring black coats? You can wear bright colours in the winter season and still look as glamorous as Camila in this original Chanel jacket.

How do we Know this is an Original Chanel Jacket?

There are many ways to tell if a Chanel Jacket is fake or authentic. Here is how we know this is legit:

Check the Jacket’s Hardware

We are talking buttons and chain. Buttons on a Chanel jacket are sometimes round and brass. They are heavy but securely sewn by hand. If you check the interior hem of any Chanel’s jacket you will see a chain which ensures the jacket is weighed down enough to give the wearer a perfect straight.

As you can see, this Chanel jacket Camila has on has the iconic round and brass ornaments, characteristic of most chanel jackets. The ornaments have been meticulously fastened into the her confidence.

The Fabric

The fabric on this jacket is a love story ONCE told: A story of Coco Chanel and the Duke of Westminster. But that’s a story for another day.

One look at Camila’s jacket and you will see how the handsewn fabric provides a blending canvas for the ornaments. The jacket is made from tweed and boucle fabric.

“I’m a great admirer of the female race. I wanted to give women clothes that they could feel comfortable in, that they could drive in but that, at the same time, would emphasize their femininity.” Coco Chanel

Another way of knowing whether that Chanel sequined designer jacket you are about to buy is legit?

Check the Label

First of all, a genuine Chanel jacket must have a label on the interior of the neck. The label should feature the size, style number and year of design. The many changes Chanel jacket designs go through mean you should check the label to see in what era yours was made.

The label should have CHANEL at its center and the Chanel logo (CC) enclosed in a circle directly under CHANEL. You should also see vertical dashed lines on both sides of the label. These dashed lines mimic the vintage design labels where a contrasting thread was used to sew the labels in place.

At the side of the jacket there should be a seam showing its fiber content. One thing to note, however, is that Chanel stopped showing a jacket’s season and year on the label. So be keen to keep the original price tag.

How to pair a sequin designer jacket

When wondering how to pair a sequin designer jacket, remember, it should be worn over plain. See how Camila has worn hers over an off-white look? Imagine if her turtleneck and pleated pants were shimmery. The visualization of it is just horrendous! So sequined jackets are paired with minimalist jewelry and minimalist clothes.
